Indicators display information
A TradingView indicator calculates values and presents them as lines, bands, zones, tables, labels, colors, or alert conditions. It can organize price, volume, volatility, or derived data. It does not automatically become a trading system because it displays a marker. The user still decides what the condition means and whether to act.
Trend Blast Monster, Quantum Flow Scanner, Void Protocol Bands, and Chop Detector Zones are examples of MtnSkyAlgo indicators. Their pages describe the chart types, broad market scope, and visual purpose. A detection label is not a guarantee, and an alert is not individualized financial advice.
Strategies simulate coded order rules
A TradingView strategy uses coded entry, exit, and order assumptions so Strategy Tester can produce hypothetical results. It may display trades, statistics, drawdown, and an equity curve. Those outputs are simulations on historical data. They are not an actual brokerage record and may not include realistic fills, costs, latency, or market impact.
MSA Pre-Alpha Boss and MSA Post-Alpha Hero are specialized long-only strategy scripts for stated futures symbols and the one-hour timeframe. They are intended for simulated analysis on regular candlesticks. The narrow naming is important because a strategy should not be generalized to every market without independent evidence.
Backtest settings can change the story
Position size, initial capital, commission, slippage, pyramiding, order timing, and date range can materially alter a strategy report. Look-ahead behavior or unrealistic fills can make a simulation misleading. Inspect Properties and the source description rather than accepting a screenshot. Change assumptions and test an unseen period.
Win rate is only one statistic. Review average win and loss, maximum drawdown, number of trades, market exposure, and whether a few outliers dominate the result. A favorable past simulation cannot account for future changes in volatility, liquidity, technology, or participant behavior.
Choose the format based on the job
Use an indicator when you want visual context, manual confirmation, or flexible analysis across symbols. Use a strategy when you need to test a fully specified set of order rules under transparent assumptions. Some workflows use both: indicators for context and a strategy for research. Keep the roles separate so a visualization is not promoted as a validated trading system.
Neither format manages your broker account by default. TradingView alerts and third-party integrations can create additional workflows, but reliability, permissions, and execution risks must be evaluated separately. MtnSkyAlgo does not execute trades or manage customer accounts.
Questions for either type
A clear tool page should name the format, purpose, intended chart settings, and material limitations. Test before risking money and preserve your settings so the process can be reproduced.
- Is this an indicator or a strategy?
- What inputs and chart type does it use?
- When are conditions confirmed?
- What instrument and timeframe are intended?
- Which backtest assumptions are active?
- Are alerts informational or tied to another system?
- What independent risk rules remain necessary?
